An attachment was developed for the MP 43 and MP 44 for the purpose of fireing through the roof of enclosed armoured vehicles. It consisted of a barrel with a 90 degree curve, and an angled aiming device (Zielfernrohr) with a 12 degree viewing angle and a 1.25 magnification. The attachment could be mounted on the MP 43 and MP 44, but not the MP 43/1. The device was fitted in a 20 kg. heavy Kugellafette. The curved barrel had the same approximate lifespan as the MP 43 and MP 44 itself.
