When writing German words, letters with an "Umlaut", such as ä, are often needed. For those without a German keybord, finding these letters through e.g. Word's special sign library will often be quite tedious. In stead, refer to the table below. The German letter is presented first, along with the "translation" in latin letters (which is perfectly acceptable to use as well), two different possible [Alt]-codes and finally how to write it in XHTML. To use the [Alt]-codes, hold down the [Alt]-key on your keyboard, and press the numbers on the numpad while holding down [Alt]. The letter should now appear in your text.
| German letter | Latin letter equivilant | First [Alt]-code alternative | Second [Alt]-code alternative | XHTML code |
