Sandbostel Concentration Camp also known as Stalag X B has been neglected by the authorities and by the people of Sandbostel who feel raising money for the restoration of the KZ is a waste of money. Dr. Klaus Volland has been struggling to put up a memorial on the camp site but so far in vain. Even relatives of former victims of the camp are being bullied away, sometimes even under threat of violence, as has happened to the Dutch family Thomas. The 83 year old wife of a victim of the nazi campsystem wanted to visit the place where her husband died, but was bullied and threatened by the caretaker of the former camp site, which is now in private hands.
